摘要

This paper is concerned with the characterization of solidification microstructure and porosity formation in Al-Cu alloys using in-situ fast X-Ray microtomography. Qualitative observations are first reported dealing with the development of the primary dendrites during solidification and of the pores which formed at the end of the solidification. Then quantitative results based on image analysis are presented on the variation of macroscopic shrinkage, specific area of the solid/liquid interfaces, local mean and Gaussian curvatures of the solid phase and porosity volume fraction.
