REPORT ON RE-CULTIVATION OF POLLUTED PLOWLAND BY OIL AND CONTAMINATED WATER OF ZHONGYUAN OIL FIELD

The reason why the soils in Zhongyuan Oil Field were polluted by the oil and contaminated water was analyzed, the pollution source and pollution process were investigated, as the result the pollution mechanism wasfigured out in this paper. The abatement research was done based on the soil pollution condition and extent, the reclamation schedule was made for the practice purpose. The soil amendment were developed for varied types of the polluted soils. The whole reclamation work plan was put forward based on the local pollution mitigation practice. Zhongyuan oil field is located on Huabei northern China plain. The oil zone mainly spreads pricinct in of Puyuan city of Henan province, and Heze and Liaocheng prefectures of Shandong province. The lease covers 6881 hectares, and the area for temporary use adds up to 21300 hectares. Most of the coverage is plowland. More than 5500 oil and water wells have been drilled since the oil field was put into production. The proven oil-bearing area of the whole field is 5300km~2. The crude oil production adds up to 8.9 million tons by the year 1998, which is a great contribution to the national economy. During the twenty-year exploration and development, with the extensive of oil production, the oil pipes and water-injection lines were ageing and corroded, which lead to the frequent puncture leakage and sudden cracking. Some criminals also cut holes in the pipes to steal oil. For the above reasons, the soils are often polluted by oil and water leakage. Near the joint station, the soils are frequently polluted by transportation and discharge of oil and water. It is difficult to restore the plowland to its former situation only by the re-cultivate measurements used against contaminated oil and water pollution. For the limitation of technique and some other reasons, the oil field pays perennial compensation for the temporary used plowland. For some seriously polluted plowland it lasts more than ten years. This not only increases production cost but also wastes soil resource.
