Observation of lateral moving traffic with an automotive radar

摘要

Radar sensors for automotive applications are used to measure the target distance and azimuth angle as well as the radial component of the target's velocity. To overcome the limitation of pure radial velocity measurements, this paper presents a technique how to estimate the lateral (cross-range) velocity component of extended targets by a single radar observation.
