摘要

Every year, sizeable quantities of crude oil or oil-refinery products have been released accidentally into surface environments including marine, soil, aqueous environments, and groundwater. The biological impacts of these spills are often tremendous and involve all the life forms inhabiting the contaminated environment. Microbial metabolism in general is now accepted as a safer and efficient tool for the removal of many such organic pollutants. Recently, the use of bacteria, fungi and/or green plants, a process named bioremediation, to return the natural environment altered by contaminants to its original condition, has gained increasing attentions.
