La restauratio d'ue plaque de corselet (iran, dix-septime siencel)

The project forcused on finding the right treatment for cleaning gilded iron objects. Immersion treatment of such objects involves a high degree of risk due to the damascene decoration. Chemical analyses and tests carried out have led to a new procedure whereby corrosion products can be removed with a solution of diammonium cirrate and CMC. The gel theus ogtained has the advantage of allowing for very well-defined local sue, covers the entire surface irrespoective of irregularities and can be removed witnour any harm to the object. The procedure has been successfully applied on a part of a severteenth-century Iranian militar corselet from the collection of the aAtional Museum of Art of Romania. The results have led us to make this a standard proedue to the further applied to all similar objects in the musenum's collections.
