Emergency Telecommunications Service in Next-Generation Networks

This white paper presents the functional requirements, features, andobjectives for the Emergency Telecommunications Service (ETS) inNext-Generation Networks. The ETS is an extension of theInternational Emergency Preference Scheme (EIPS) of the ITU-TRecommendation E.106 [1] and includes additional provisions formultimedia services through an Internet-based telecommunicationsenvironment. Efforts are underway in the national standards bodiesand International organizations to establish a comprehensive familyof ETS standards for next-generation networks.
