This paper presents the design and simulation of a compact human face-shaped microstrip patch antenna that can operate from 5.9 to 11.2 GHz. The antenna has an elliptical patch with a human face to achieve the wideband characteristics. The bandwidth of the proposed antennas is further improved by using the concepts of Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The slots are inserted in the ground plane for improving the bandwidth. The proposed antenna is simulated and optimized in CST Microwave studio and the simulation results prove that the antenna can operate at a wide range of frequencies from 5.9 to 11.2 GHz. The proposed antenna is compact in size and provides wide bandwidth, high gain, high efficiency, etc. Return loss characteristics, antenna gain, radiation efficiency, and radiation patterns are presented in the paper.
