The VHF omnidirectional radio range(VOR) signal is a meter wave, which is susceptible to reflection and re-reflection from the surrounding terrain and buildings, resulting in reduced signal quality [1], [2]. Therefore, the VOR has higher requirements on the surrounding field. Both national standards and industry standards have detailed regulations on the site of the VOR, but the influence of the steel frame on the surface of the buildings surrounding the VOR and the metal boom of the construction cranes on the VOR signal can not be ignored. Based on actual real case, this paper models and simulates the influence of tower crane boom on VOR signal in different directions, and compares the simulation results with the flight inspection data, thereby demonstrating the effect of the tower cranes on the the radial bearing error of the VOR, and finally proposes improvements and optimization plans.
