The temperatures on the surfaces of intact Scindapsus and Ficus Elastica leaves subjected to ultraviolet (UV) radiation with peak wavelengths of 365nm and 310nm, blue light supplied by a plant-upbringing lamp and the dark as a function of time were investigated. The thermal images of leaves were taken at intervals of I mm using a thermal video system, by which thermal Information in the 3 to 5.4 μm infrared band were recorded. In order to obtain the atmospheric temperature, the images of a sheet of black paper in air were simultaneously recorded. After the tests, the difference between the mean temperature of the leaf and the atmospheric temperature at each time point under each light condition was determined. The results showed that the temperature differences for UV radiation were remarkably different from those for light supplied by a plant-upbringing lamp and the dark.
