Design and Analysis of a High Efficiency Modified DC-DC Step Up Converter for PV System

In this paper, a dc-dc step up converter has been proposed with high static gain and high efficiency. To design this system, the concept of conventional boost converter is used. This converter mainly works based on voltage multiplier technique. In this work, the proposed converter has been analyzed with magnetic coupling network and without magnetic coupling network. In both cases, output voltage and switching stress have been calculated and it is shown that the proposed converter provides high voltage gain and reduced switching stress than that of conventional one. Moreover, this model has been simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and analyzed the stipulated parameters that matched with the analytical solutions. The analytical and numerical solution show that the efficiency of this system without magnetic coupling network and with magnetic coupling network has been found as 96% and 94.50 %, respectively.
