High-Voltage Step-Up DC-DC Converter Employing The Four State Switching Cell and Voltage Multiplier Cells

Distinct modern applications require wide voltage conversion range, e.g., renewable energy systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), among others. However, this requirement brings some problems associated with the power converters used for this purpose, mainly related to the system efficiency, stresses on the semiconductor devices, and component count. This work presents a high-voltage step-up non-isolated dc-dc converter based on the four-state switching cell (4SSC) and voltage multiplier cells (VMC), whose voltage and current stresses on the semiconductors are reduced. Besides, the reactive components are smaller due to the increased operating frequency, which is three times higher than the switching frequency. The operating principle, theoretical analysis, and simulation results are presented in detail. The introduced topology is also compared with other similar approaches that exist in the literature.
