Tutor Experiences with the Use of an Electronic Assessment Tool at the University of Johannesburg

Assessment is an important component of teaching and learning as lecturers are able to gauge through assessments whether learning has taken place. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are striving to implement Electronic Assessment (e-assessment) as an alternative to the traditional assessment method, which is pen and paper, however, e-assessments have many advantages as well as challenges. This paper investigated the experiences of a group of strategic tutors responsible for administering the e-assessment tool to assess the contents of the End User Computing (EUC) module at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). A short questionnaire was employed to collect the data. Data was analysed manually because of the small number of respondents. The results of the investigation highlighted the various challenges experienced with this particular e-assessment tool.
