Intelligent Trash Bin Management System - Initial Design and Implementation

One of interesting aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) is development of systems where sensors (and possibly actuators), allow creation of inexpensive human-oriented solutions. In this context, we consider "smart garbage collection". Specifically, we have developed an inexpensive prototype of a solution for poor communities (possibly Third World countries). The proposed approach, consists of a trash bin prototype and an initial version of an application that allows optimisation of trash pickup.
