Research on Construction Schemes and Applicable Scenarios for Flexible Direct-Current Electricity Collector Grids of Offshore Wind Farm Clusters

Main task for collector grids of offshore wind farm clusters is to collect electricity generated from independent offshore wind farms and transfer to according access bus in the public power system. With expansions in capacities, offshore distances and mutual intervals of these offshore wind farms, construction schemes of collector grids are gradually transformed from high-voltage (HV) alternate-current (AC) to direct-current (DC) transmission. In this paper, research on the offshore wind farm cluster composed of HVAC/HVDC collector grid respectively is analyzed under technical/economical comparisons. Conclusions about corresponding applicable scenarios of HVAC/HVDC collector grids are summarized, and verified by the collector grid design for practical large-scale offshore wind farm cluster.
