HPCMP CREATE?-AV Helios Version 9 enhances the accuracy of coupled rotorcraft aero/structural predictions through introduction of the X3D three-dimensional structural dynamics solver for rotors. Improved predictions of laminar to turbulent transition is provided through the addition of several transition models. Support for loose coupling elastic trim is extended to cases with multiple rotors at non-integer-multiple RPM, enabling accurate simulation of elastic main/tail rotor configurations. Lastly, an automated testing infrastructure that enables users to setup their own test suite from standard Helios inputs to compare against other versions is included. This paper summarizes these new features and demonstrates their application to rotorcraft configurations of interest.
