A decade of bi-directional MFL inspection applications: ILI experience in non-piggable pipelines around the globe

This paper presents a critical review of various pipeline inspection projects that have used 3P Services' bi-directional inspection technologies. While this technique finds application in a number of scenarios where pipelines have been constructed without regard to internal inspection, the case histories here concentrate on tanker loading/unloading pipelines and North Sea applications. Focus of the paper evaluates the different technical challenges encountered on each project. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed compared to inspection alternatives.
