For aging assessment of steel plate reinforced concrete (SC) structures, the state of the internal concrete cannot be assessed by visual inspection since the concrete is sandwiched by steel plates. In this study, the applicability of non-destructive methods such as ultrasonic and impact pulse methods were studied with the focus on elastic wave velocity and elastic modulus of concrete as indices of aging of SC structures. Elastic wave velocity and elastic modulus of internal concrete of SC wall specimens (1.5 m and 0.7 m thickness) were measured by ultrasonic and impact pulse methods and results were compared with directly measured values for concrete cores extracted from SC wall specimens.
