Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) is an in-vehicle network technology standard for multi-media communication in automotive. The MOST technology has three generations in terms of bandwidth including MOST25 (25Mbps), MOST50 (50Mbps) and MOST150 (150Mbps). Theoretically the MOST technology can support up to 64 devices in a ring configuration. However, major carmakers and Tier 1 suppliers only adopts the MOST technology to support 3-5 devices. It is a challenge to support up to 64 devices in a single-ring network and another challenge is to link multiple rings so as to support hundreds of devices. We aim to adopt the fastest MOST 150 technology to develop a novel and scalable in-vehicle multimedia network system to develop the single ring networking configuration and multiple ring networking configuration. Moreover, the additional data channel that compliance to TCP/IP standard is required in the MOST communication packet to enable the communication between devices in the ring networks. We aim to develop the MOST driver software to enable the Ethernet service for MOST devices.
