Construction Site Modeling for Construction Safety Education

The construction industry is one of the most multidimensional, dynamic and hazardous industries in the United States. From the building of critical infrastructures such as highways, bridges, and power generation facilities to the construction of commercial and residential structures, the industry remains one of the most important (and dangerous) in our nation. According to the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, 824 workplace injuries and illnesses per 100 full time workers were reported for the field of construction in 2013 (USDL, 2015). Due to such high numbers of accidents regularly occurring in the field, it is essential for educators to develop new and effective methodologies that equip future safety professionals to successfully mitigate such risks.
