Typical OEM control instrumentation on pulverizers insufficient for monitoring health. With additional data and the use of pattern recognition technology, a more complete predictive monitoring program can be established. This is more than monitoring a pump or motor, the mills are complex systems that can crush up to 60 tons of coal per hour and are expected to be in operation for a large part of the year. This technology has successfully been implemented at multiple sites as a suitable method to instrument and monitor the health and performance of coal pulverizers.
