Considering the Correlation in Measure-Correlate-Predict techniques

Measure-Correlate-Predict or MCP is a standard technique for the assessment of long term wind resource at a location where only short term data are available. In this, the target site is correlated with a suitable reference site for which the long term wind resource has been measured. The form of the correlation is in general taken to be either analytical, in which case a linear relationship between the sites with or without intercept is generally assumed, or empirical, in which case a matrix relationship is derived without assumption in terms of the form of the relationship between the sites.
