At previous HFES meetings, we have presented the evolution of a quantitative model with two factors -pedestrian location and motion - that predicts how Swedish drivers rate the desirability of receiving alerts to pedestrian encounters recorded by an in-vehicle pedestrian-detection system. In this paper we extend the model to the Indian subcontinent and identify two additional factors - vehicle lane and the lateral distance to the pedestrian - that, when added to the 'Swedish model', predict the ratings provided by Indian drivers to pedestrian encounters in India.
