A real-time immersive audio rendering system is implemented on a PC platform without dedicated digital signal processing hardware. The system consists of a component for synthesizing binaural sound from a monaural source and a crosstalk cancellation filter for rendering over loudspeakers. FIR filters for binaural synthesis and crosstalk cancellation filter are implemented with experimentally measured head-related transfer functions (HRTF's). A virtual sound source can be rendered at various angles in real time.
