The ISO/IEC 17025:2017 [1] standard establishes that the laboratory shall have quality control procedures for monitoring the validity of their tests. For this monitoring participation in proficiency testing may be used. It was agreed amongst the Notified Bodies for Explosives, that the upcoming proficiency testing would concern the thermal stability testing (75°C/48h) in accordance with the EN 13631-2:2003 [2] standard. As there were no special chemicals found to fail to the test, special compositions have to be developed. This paper describes the development, the evaluation and the conclusions of the Round Robin test, which pointed out the necessity of the recast of the EN 13631-2 standard.
