Fuel elements are the most critical elements of the core of a nuclear reactor. In the general case, a fuel rod consists of an airtight cladding, inside of which nuclear fuel pellet is placed. The fuel rod cladding provides the required mechanical strength to the structure and protects the fuel from the corrosive and erosive influence of the coolant on it.
