Due to the presence in Russia of a significant amount of excess generating capacity at power stations, the price of electricity in the wholesale electricity market, as well as payments in the market of competitive power take-off, have a relatively low value, which does not allow the construction of new generating capacity at the expense of own funds of power stations. Therefore, the financing of construction at power plants is due to an additional increase in payments to consumers for the capacity of their electric receivers connected to the electric networks under the so-called power supply agreements. As a result, the introduction of new generating capacities at power plants leads to an increase in electricity costs for consumers. At the same time, the price of electricity for the final consumer, according to the adopted methodology of its formation, is significantly higher than in the wholesale market. The paper analyzes the investment attractiveness of projects for the construction of new generating capacities not at power plants, but at large industrial consumers based on gas turbine installations equipped with high-pressure recovery boilers. It was found that the efficiency of fuel use and the payback period of projects based on the AL-31STE type GTU (18 MW capacity) and 6FA type GTU (82 MW capacity) do not exceed 5 years, even in the case of construction of energy sources that provide full redundancy of newly introduced capacity at the consumer. At the same time, it is established that the payback period does not depend much on the capacity of the newly introduced generating equipment in the considered range of their changes.
