Take a certain type of diesel locomotive as study objects. Based on the vehicle/track coupling dynamics theory, use dynamics software SIMPACK to establish a vehicle-track coupling dynamics model, combine with the characteristics of mountain lines. Analyse and compare the impact of primary longitudinal damping has on wheelset vibration characteristics and wheel-rail relationship. Then through testing the diesel locomotive installed with primary longitudinal shock absorber running on mountain line, achieve the data of wheelset longitudinal vibration from the testing devices. The measured data can be taken as a kind of discrete signal and do spectrum analysis by discrete Fourier transform. Validate the relationship between longitudinal vibration and tread damage.
