Simulation of Wind Power Generation System Using Switched Reluctance Generator and Capacitor-less AC-AC converter

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the possibility of applying capacitor-less AC-AC converters and a switched reluctance generator (SRG) to the wind power generation system (WPGS). The simulation system with Matlab Simulink composed of the SRG, controllers, and capacitor-less AC-AC converters is utilized for this purpose. In this paper, the each element that structures the simulation system is discussed. It also proposes the new concept of converter which can be applied to the WPGS using SRG. Based on the new concept taken a hint from the idea of a matrix converter, this paper presents a new control method for improving the efficiency of SRG by utilizing voltages between lines. Using the capacitor-less AC-AC converter enables to use a bipolar voltage to boost and extract the stator current quickly. This feature of converter will improve the efficiency of SRG. So, we propose the WPGS using the capacitor-less AC-AC converter and SRG.
