PURPOSE: A variable generating voltage converter based switched reluctance generator drive system is provided to prevent the sharp decline of current in the low and medium speed range and the excessive increase of current in the high speed range by controlling generating voltage regardless of excitation voltage. CONSTITUTION: A proportional plus integral action (PI) power controller (110) produces a conductive angle by proportionally integrating power. An average value calculation unit (120) produces an electricity average power value for the direct current voltage and direct current of a power converter (140). An angular position controller (130) calculates the state of a phase switch by controlling an angular position according to the sense of heat and the position of a rotor which are produced from the difference of an off angle and a conduction angle. The power converter (140) drives a switched reluctance generator at a variable speed by using variable speed generating voltage according to the state of a switching element and a phase switch. A current output unit (150) calculates the current of an off-angle position from generating voltage which is output from the position of the rotor and the power converter.
