The Current Status and Circulation Characteristics of Chinese Tuna Import Market

Tuna industry is developing rapidly in recent years, and it had became a important growth point of the fisheries in China, this paper use the SCP analysis paradigm, emphatically analyzed the market structure of tuna imports market in China and explored the tuna imports market present situation and its causes. The study found that the tuna products in the Chinese tuna import market are very diverse. By giving full play to the advantages of comparative advantage and low labor cost, the emerging tuna fishing countries have formed a fierce competition with the developed countries of traditional tuna industry. But in the high-end import market, the developed countries of traditional tuna industry monopolize the market by taking advantages of their own tuna resources and mature technologies. As for the situation of Chinese tuna circulation, the market information sharing system is not perfect, there is no organized circulation main body, and the industry chain is not complete. Therefore the government should support tuna fishing enterprises to strengthen their own strength, improve the industrial chain, and not only establish the market information sharing and analysis system but also build the standardized retail market.
