摘要

An air-gap separated ground double bow-tie antenna for Ka/K and partial Ku band imaging applications is presented in this work. By incorporating an air-gap between the ground and the conducting element, wider bandwidth is achieved with a lower profile as compared to the conventional silicon lens approach for imaging devices. The gain achieved in this work is also comparable with the gain achieved in silicon lens embedded devices, and a peak gain of 13.5 dB is achieved. The achieved bandwidth in this work ranges from 15.7 – 42.3 GHz, partially covering the Ku band (12 – 18 GHz) and fully covering the K (18 – 27 GHz) and Ka (27 – 40 GHz) frequency bands.
