The paper describes the process of mathematical model development of the hydraulic drive of electrode positioning in the ultra-high power electric arc furnace (EAF) taking into account random disturbances of the electric arcs. The developed model makes it possible to assess the dynamic performance parameters of the control system of the electrode positioning hydraulic drive, which is especially important in the process of energy reserves identification in the EAF in order to improve a number of important economic and technical characteristics such as specific energy consumption, electrode consumption, time of current-on operation and the heat time. Besides, it should be noted that the algorithms, which form the basis of this model, are universal and can be applied for both low-power and high-power furnaces using different ways of charging.
