35 kV distribution networks have a complex configuration with a break point in one of their nodes under normal conditions. The selected break point should minimize losses of active electrical power and provide a durable energy service. Actually, identification of the break point minimizing losses of active power for 35 kV overhead network is quite a difficult task. Thus this point is practically determined randomly, which might increase losses of active power and voltage. Available identification methods for 35 kV complex overhead distribution networks do not take into account power losses in the line and real voltages. The authors prove that this negligence may result in an incorrect identification of the break point. They propose an identification method considering power losses in the line and the real/actual voltage values. The viability of this method is confirmed for similar 35 kV networks. The described methods of network division and its transfer into a radial type may noticeably reduce power losses.
