Improvement of Direct Torque Control Performances Using FCS-MPC and SVM Applied to PMSM: Study and Comparison

摘要

The aim of this paper is to present an improved Direct Torque Control (DTC) for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive. Nowadays, it is widely recognized that DTC becomes one of the most strategies of control in the industry, because of its known characteristics such as simplicity, minimal torque response time and robustness. However, some limitations in terms of torque ripple and variable switching frequency are exhibited. To enhance this type of control, two techniques have been introduced. The first one is the Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPTC) which has advantages of being fast with simple implementation, but its switching frequency is variable. The second technique is the DTC control using SVM (Space Vector Modulation), that shows a good performance with fixed switching frequency, which minimizes the ripple torque and improve the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion).
