On-line Continuing Education for the Development of Faculty Academic Mobility

We investigated the effectiveness of on-line education for the development of faculty academic mobility. The barriers to academic mobility development were revealed in a preliminary qualitative study of 272 members of academic staff. To overcome these barriers we worked out the information system consisting of two components: managerial and development ones. To implement the system two environments were created: the first one is the information environment (website) that provides up-to-date information on the mobility programs and educational modules to create individual learning trajectories for the faculty; the second one is an online education environment created using digital platform for online education (Moodle) to organize distant and blended learning and support self-education and self-control. The experimental results showed a significant increase of 37% in academic mobility in the control group (50 members of academic staff) in comparison with a random group (58 members of academic staff).
