Postprocessor converting the tool path into numerical control (NC) program is the key technology of NC programming and also an important medium between CAD/CAM system and machine tool. The purpose of this study is to analyze the tool path file NC Intermediate (NCI) produced by the commercial software Mastercam, including the data of the tip point, contact point, contact point vector and other related information. A window-based conversion interface written by Visual C # was developed to transform the NCI file to the required multi-axis NC program and a process operation sheet for the table/spindle-tilting type of five-axis machine tool configuration. It confirms the feasibility of the proposed scheme through verification using the solid cutting simulation software VERICUT? and trial-cut experiment.
