This paper analyzes the mechanism and properties of traction transformer inrush currents, combining with the characteristics of electrified railway traction transformer, then the factors that affect the inrush currents magnitude and the characteristics of the inrush currents were studied using MATLAB simulation modeling. The simulation result matches the theoretical analysis and actual engineering parameters, which verifies the validity of the model. Moreover, the analysis result indicates that it is feasible to study the traction transformer inrush currents influence on power quality of power grid common connection points using voltage fluctuation and voltage dip as measurement parameters.
