A Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm to Meet Trust Requirements in Ridesharing Systems

摘要

Although ridesharing has been recognized as a potential model to reduce energy consumption, congestion and greenhouse gas emissions, it is not widely adopted due to the lack of trust to share a vehicle with strangers and the extra cost for picking up and dropping passengers. To promote ridesharing, development of an effective methodology to enhance trust and reduce costs is an important research issue. In this paper, a ridesharing model is proposed based on the use of social network to minimize costs while meeting the trust requirements of riders. An integer programming problem with binary decision variable is formulated for the ridesharing model. Due to computation complexity, a meta-heuristic approach is adopted to find solutions for the problem. A Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is adopted to solve the problem. The performance of the decision model and the proposed algorithm is illustrated by numerical examples.
