Strategic sourcing through the purchase of raw materials continues to grow in importance as a mainstay of business operations. Supply chain management (SCM) logistical decision making can be improved through implementation of fuzzy logic-based models. It is shown that a decision is improved by the use of such a fuzzy-logic model, and that managers can gain a sustainable competitive advantage by utilizing such a technique. This technique is shown to find suppliers with a strong orientation toward a particular on-time delivery or quality product performance. It identifies them as strong suppliers. This study shows the potential application of this methodology.
