摘要

A quasi-static penetration model of ballistic penetration of thick section composites is developed. This penetration model calculates the quasi-static energy absorption of a composite material from its penetration resistance curve and uses an analytical model to approximate the rest kinetic energy of the projectile-laminate system. It is argued that at ballistic limit velocity the ballistic impact energy is a sum of the quasi-static penetration energy and the rest kinetic energy of the projectile-laminate system. The present model is validated with ballistic experiments and a good correlation is obtained.
