The Study on Obliquity on the Ballistic Performance of Aramid Fabric

The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the ballistic resistance behavior of Aramid laminate experiencing oblique impact. The ballistic resistance performance at normal impact is discussed widely on most reports. However, the reports concerning ballistic resistance behavior at oblique impact are limited in metal material. The research of the oblique ballistic behavior of polymer composites is rarely to be seen. The ballistic results show that the degree of ricochet of Aramid laminates is greater than metal (> 75°, even more). The offset direction when projectile perforated the laminate is conversely with those of metal plates. Both sliding and embedding behaviors were found in laminate after impact.
