The effect on the process time, of increasing the temperature of the spray dispersion was investigated. It could be shown that the higher energy content of the warmer dispersion contributes to a more effective drying process thereby leading to considerable reduction in process time. This positive effect, where the drying process resulted in shorter process times could only be observed in processes, where the product temperature is higher than the dispersion temperature. This suggests that the energy of the tablets significantly contributes to the drying of the dispersion droplets on the tablet surface.
