The first 50 flight hours of fly by wire (FBW) flight testing on two S-92 derivative aircraft from a handling qualities perspective is described. The envelope expansion activities have progressed to the point where the system can be evaluated against the quantitative metrics contained in ADS-33E for the primary rate command / attitude hold mode. Details pertaining to the validation of stability robustness and inverse plant modeling are provided. The system has demonstrated Level 1 compliance to the control bandwidth and attitude quickness requirements of ADS-33E.
