This paper is devoted to the modelling and numerical simulation of strongly unbalanced two-phase flows using an averaged two-fluid approach. In order to account for such imbalances, a generally hyperbolic seven-equation model is considered. This task involves the modelling of the interaction terms between the phases. Some modelling choices are suggested, that comply with an entropy inequality. An analysis of the convective part allows us to define several flow regimes. The transfers between both phases are examined accounting for possible phase transitions. Finally, a numerical method is proposed, that allows us to compute efficiently the strongly unbalanced two-phase flows.
