MAPPING AND ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC NOISE AT AN INTERSECTION IN UMUARAMA-PR, BRAZIL

摘要

The main objective of this work is to present an overview of the sound environment at an intercession between a rural road and an urban road, both located within the urban perimeter of the city of Umuarama, northwestern Parana state, Brazil. Another objective was to monitor the equivalent sound pressure levels and relate them to values allowed by current norms. The calculated Leq was found to be 85,80 dB(A), which is in complete disagreement with norm 10151 (ABNT, 2000), leading to the need to discuss, define and adopt strategies to reduce noise pollution, which was simulated using SoundPLAN software. In that perspective, based on the mapping and simulation of noise, the work discusses several possible structural and non-structural interventions, such as specific municipal laws, whose objective is to prevent and reduce the harmful effects of exposure to ambient noise.
