摘要

Intranet has been in existence at our center and is proving helpful in CNC data transfer among and within various buildings of our workshops and design centres. This paper presents a case-study of ultra-precision machining of metal/crystal optics where in precision machining requires transfer of large size CNC data in between two separate buildings. This is because the ultra precision machining center is housed in a distant building to avoid vibrations generated from other heavy machines shops. To facilitate different location access of the data files, web server collaboration concept has been utilized. A multi feature search engine with various search options has also been incorporated. Windows file sharing concept facilitates file views at multiple clients (machines). Duplicated web servers and DAT based backup systems ensures the round the clock availability of data.
