The dynamic expansion of the multimedia market is accompanied by increasing demand for video performance.newest trends reveal upcoming needs for the high-quality reproduction of video on TV- and HDTV -displays as well a son desktop screens.As a consequence,the requirements for video reproduction are growing accelerated not only at hte high-end but also inconsumer market.Nevertheless,today's matter of fact is disappointing.Most of the TV-screens and ivdeo projectors exibit annoyign interline and screen flicker.Moreover,Computer displays suffer from insufficient resolutin fo the reproduced videos accompanied by motion judder.some of these problems can already be reduced today by increasing computation power and bus bandwidth.However,some of them cannot.Problems related to the basic video standards and the incompatibility with multimedia display formats cannot be overcoem by operation at formats cannot be ovecoem by operaiton at higher data rates or the improvement of computation speed.THey can only be oslved by image format conversion performed by the digital processing of video signals.
