Spaceborne payload processing systems are suffering from the need to optimise the eletronics to the specific requirements for the desired purpose. This trend is driven by the limited physical resources of onboard systems. The side-effect of this optimisation are long development and test schedules as well as increasingly high costs. for future payload processing systems it is envisaged to defing a gengric architecture that offers scalability to the requirements of a wide range of instruments. The system shall be composed of individual building blocks with unified interfaces which are based on widely spread commercial or military standards.
