The above results confirm that the retention of ACs containing a carboxylic group is strongly influenced by dissociation of their carboxylic group. There is a repulsive interaction between the ionized form of carboxylic compounds and the polar head of phospholipids so that the retention of the former was impaired. When ionized compounds were included in the compounds set, acidic and basic compounds have to be treated separately (coefficient of δ for ACs containing a carboxylic group and BCs was -1.496 and -0.430 respectively) to meet a distinct effect of the molecular electronic factor on drug-biomembrane interactions.
