Footing plates on elastic foundation were analyzed as three-dimensional bending problem of simply-supported rectangular plates on the elastic foundation by using linearly elastic theory. Building weight on the plate was approximated as transversely distributed force and the Winkler model was used to consider effect of the elastic foundation. Solutions of the problem were derived analytically. Numerical results were estimated based on coefficient of subgrade reaction expressed as ratio of the spring constant of Winkler foundation to bending stiffness of the plate to clarify interaction between the plate and the foundation. Bending deformations of the plates on the foundations were confirmed to be dominant regardless of the coefficient. The range of the coefficients was determined to consider the interaction between the plate and the foundation.
